Ultraviolet light has the ability to destroy various types of microorganisms. In the case of viruses or bacteria, the thin lipid layer surrounding them is destroyed and DNA bonds are destroyed, so devices that emit UV radiation are used, in particular, to disinfect rooms and various kinds of equipment inside.
The lamp generates ultraviolet light, which, in combination with the natural oxygen contained in the air, produces pure ozone (no nitrogen oxides). In a normal room, a part of the room may be blocked from the UV radiation of the lamp by furniture or other objects, but ozone, which also kills bacteria and viruses, will still get there.
